Ongeveer een jaar geleden liet Bas van Rijnsoever tijdens een gesprek met Ilay den Boer de opmerking vallen “Ik mis een oorlog”. Wat hierop volgde was een fel gesprek over het gemis van conflicten en identiteit als Nederlandse kunstenaar.
Ilay  daagde Bas uit  om hem tijdens De Week van de Belofte te confronteren met conflicten die hem vreemd zijn. Op woensdag 3 november zal Bas in een situatie geplaatst worden die hem vokomen vreemd is. Op voorhand weet hij nog niet wat dit zal zijn. Dezelfde avond nog zal Bas in een performance laten zien wat die dag voor hem heeft betekent.

Bas van Rijnsoever started in 2001 with studying for Drama Teacher at the Amstedam Theatre School but after two years he made a switch to the Mime Deparment (physical theater). He graduated from this school in 2008. During his Mime studies he did a traineeship as actor in the production TUCHT (2007) of Carver [SE]. This show won the ‘gouden mus’ prize for best play on the festival ‘Parade’ in 2007 and was revived in 2008 for multiple (international) festivals. Bas also directed various productions such as Mach’t (2003), an assembled play with parts of speeches from A. Hitler, G. W. Bush jr., K. Anan, M. Luther King and Agamemnon, Die Schöne Fremde (2004) an adaptation of Klaus Pohl’s play. De Vrolijke Parade (2006), a mime-musical inspired by the music of Of Montreal with self written lyrics and FAUST FORWARD (2007) about everything but real love. In 2008 Bas formed, together with Floor van Leeuwen, mime theatre group MTG Blont. With their first performance ‘ZO komt de naakte waaheid aan haar licht‘(English title: Thus) they won the Its Parade Parel in 2008 and the award for Best Theatre Play at the Skena Up Festival in Prishtina, Kosovo. The performance made a tour trough Holland and played at the ACT Festival in Bilbao. In November 2009 MTG Blont created a new performance “Zonder Zwaartekracht draagt men niets”. Bas is frontman and singer of the Nhelden band LnSaint.
